Subject: InstallShield Can't write to HD
Comment:

Hi,

It appears that anything that uses InstallShield can't write to my HD from the CDROM. I've installed lots of other things from the CDROM so I'm pretty sure it's not the drive. I'm running Win98 with a 40 GB Maxtor HD with >30 GB free and a Celery 566.
No background processes.

Any clues?

Thanks,
Jason

I get a blue screen of death stating
"Can not write to drive C:, Data may be lost"

From a DOS prompt, enter
SET

Is the variable TEMP defined that points to your \TEMP directory? And the directory exists?

my temp var is set to c:\windows\temp

It looks a like problem with copying large files (>50 MB) from the CDROM to the HD. I've contacted Maxtor, and they're helping me now. If your interested in the outcome I'll post it.

Thanks.
