I am trying to install Linksys 24GHz Wireless-G into an old HP with win98 fir4st addition. After installing the program, I couldn't get the program to finish installing. I found an error in the system properties under Linksys and it says I need to update bios. How to I find this info. I tried looking for the mother board's info, but couldn't locate it, so maybe someone can help me find it and the bios information.

Is it possible to install a wireless card in this computer or can I install a wireless router if that isn't possible.?

I am not really that knowledgeable in computers, but would like to install my wireless card in this computer to network with my other computers. This computer runss really well and I would like to have it online for my son's school work.

I haven't had any luck installing wireless cards in 98SE/ME machines. I've had no problems using USB wireless adapters, but no go with PCI cards. There may be a trick to it, but I didn't run across it & admittedly didn't spend too much time trying to figure it out. But as orbital said, "I think you will find you need W98SE", but you may also find that your card is only supported by 2000/XP.

I would first verify in the System Requirements for the software that 98 is supported. That should be in the paperwork that came with the device.
