I have an Everex Pentium Desktop Computer that I need help with.

I installed an 8.0 GB hard drive and installed windows 95. I can not get the mouse or the floppy drive to work. I have bought a new floppy drive and installed it. I would like to install Windows 98 over Windows 95 so I can get the mouse and floppy drive to work. Will I need to uninstall Windows 95 first? Can I install Windows 98 with the CD?

larry,

You can do it from CD. Instructions at:

http://www.windowsreinstall.com/win98/install98cd/indexfullpage.htm

If your floppy isn't working check your CMOS and the physical connection. If all is set correctly you'll need another floppy drive. They're very cheap and if you ask around there's usuall someone with an old box that'll give you the floppy out of it.

good luck,
wired

If you only have 16mb of RAM, do NOT install win98. Stick with win95 & figure out what's wrong with your hardware

Listen to Jam. Changing from win95 to win98 is not going to fix your problems. Get a serial mouse.

Or you PS2 mouse support is disabled in the Bios. Could also be the floppy ribbon cable. And not the drive. And its best to have at least 32 MB of ram for 98.
