I need to install win98(or XP) on a Slave drive(which imgoing to use as a Master on my new system), but i dont want to lose any of my files on the drive. Is there anyway to install Windows without having to format the drive and therefore losing my files? Thank you

This won't work for several reasons, the first of which is that Win9X needs to be installed to a partition on your first (Primary Master) Harddrive. Also, all of the hardware will be different when you swap the HD into the new PC, causing a really untidy (problematic) install.

A better method would be to copy the Win9X directory onto the HD, sys the drive, then install it into the new PC & run setup from the HD.

Boot to the CD, and you can partition the drive and install.
