Comment: I have win95 on cd and I am trying to install win95 on a 486dx4 for friend. I have dos loaded and cd rom drivers loaded. Its taking forever to install win95 to the hard disk. It states it may take 30 to 60 mins. It has been 3 hrs and only 25% has been installed. Does anyone knoe any its taking very long??

Reply: (edit)Howdy, First stop the install and restart the computer, when it says press so and so key to enter setup, do so. Look for something called the L2 Cache our Level 2 Cache and make sure this is turned on, also make sure if it has the opition, that the L1 cache is turned on as well. Also make sure, if it has one that the anti-virus is disabled, what I mean buy turning it on is its enabled. This is most likely the cause of the problem, you also don't have to load DOS to install 95, just the DOS/Real mode drivers for the CD-ROM drive. Laters, Kevin The Tech Dude.
