yesterday i tried installing a new version of NAV but got an error message, at the end of the installation programme. i already had NAV 2002 (legally) and now bought NAV 2003 (also legally).
when i click on the ok button of the error message or the x in the top right hand corner, this restarts my computer - over, and over, and over!!! i have had to put the computer on standby as it does not shut off (unless i unplug it!)
the error message reads (translated from dutch, so please excuse any oddities):"some symantec product applications have been changed by a non-authorised programme. this could point to an attacker or a virus which tries to switch off the security.
to avoid problems, the applications will be reset to the previous configuration and the system will start up again. click on 'ok' to proceed."any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
sorry, i don't know what OS is or CPU/Ram. i have a compaq presario, windows 98, AMD-K(tm) 3D processor. hope this helps.thanks,
a desperate, computer-dependant Nora.

Did you uninstall NAV 2002 before installing NAV 2003?
If not you may get ererors like that.
1. Boot to safe mode and uninstall NAV 2003.
2. Boot to normal mode downlad and run Rnav.exe or Rnav2003.exe to remove any old entries of Nav2002 and 2003.
3. reboot and install NAV 2003.
If that does not solve your problem you may have a virus that is attacking NAV during your reboot.
follow steps 1 and 2 again, and do a online virus scan before reinstalling NAV.

oh, my god, this is what i was afraid of - technical mumbo-jumbo.
Q1) how do i "boot"?
Q2) what is "safe mode"?
Q3) NAV2003 said it uninstalled NAV 2002 before installing the 2003 version.thanks, and sorry for my obvious stupidity!

1) For your question, how to boot! Goto www.bootdisk.com and download a bootdisk to boot your computer! When you download the program, double click it and then it will ask for a blank floppy and then when it finish, you restart the computer with floppy in the A drive then it will boot!
2)For safe mode, it is like when u install a software and that software causes a program that causes u cannot go into windows, you goto safe mode to uninstall it.
3) As for ur nav 2003 will remove ur 2002 first, it is not clean yet!
IF YOU HAVE ANY E-MAIL, I WILL E-MAIL U THE PROGRAM TO UNINSTALL THE ANTIVIRUS! Pls: Are u using Norton Systemwork?Christopher

ok guys, i'll follow your advice, and see how far i get and will let you know how it went...
will be away tomorrow and the day after, so hope to get back to you in 2 days' time. please don't forget my posting by then!
Nora.
