Comment: I am able to get both the cd rom and cd rw on the same cable and set one to slave and one to master drive. The computer reconizes both of them but when i go to boot up, the computer will not load windows. Sometimes it brings me to the option screen to boot up in safe mode or normal etc. Anysuggestions would help?

Reply: (edit)Did the computer bootup OK BEFORE the new CD Drives are installed? You have both the CD drives on the secondary IDE right?

Reply: (edit)several things to make: 1.change the battery of the bios 2.activate both IDE channels in control panel - device profiles. 3.In system devices tab (on control panel) on the pci bus option should be enabled the setting hardware, not bios, and bridges little boardmust be active. 4. If all this doesn't work see msinfo in order to check if Interruptions are ok 5. Ensure cables are very tighten to the mainboard (this must be done in first place). 6. Maybe the source power is being insufficient to power up those drives you are connecting, maybe you have 2 hard drives, a scanner, a printer and something more like a tv card? if yes, surely is the source power, try to buy a new one of 450 watts, because i had the same problem. Hope will help

Reply: (edit)Yeah, check the HD drive connection. Maybe you nudged it loose while you were inside the case. Make sure the RAM and all the cards are firmly inserted. Check that the HD is properly identified in cmos/bios setup.

Reply: (edit)Try it with each drive alone connected. One drive might be defective. You could also try splitting up the drive on different cables.
