Comment: I have windows 95 and tried installing 98 on top of it and said I need an upgrade disk to continue. Is there any way to install with the 98 disk I have without the upgrade disk?

Reply: (edit)Best way is a clean install rather than an upgrade anyway. Back up any data you want to keep, use a boot floppy to format the hard drive & install 98.

Reply: (edit)Go to Start>Find>Files or Folders...type in Win.com>Find Now. Right-click it & select Rename. Name it something like Win.old. Reboot with a bootdisk & follow the prompts, with one exception..... Setup will detect the C:\Windows directory & will suggest installing to C:\Windows.000. Change this back to C:\Windows and you're all set. HTH Dave Have you ever noticed that if you rearranged the letters in "mother in law", they come out to "Woman Hitler?"
