Hi

I am installing a 8g fujitsu dh and a goldstar cd-rom drive in my computer when i boot up with a boot disk i get the following error message " Device driver not found : MSCD001. Which pertains to the CD-ROM drive Also "Windows 98 has detected that drive C does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32 partition". When i run FDISK to partition the drive i get the following message "No fixed disks present" I went into he bios to set the IDE HDD auto detection and this feature is not listed or is IDE setup or Standard CMOS setup.

Please help and thanks in advance

Make sure you have the HD jumper set to "Master" (it's in the back of the HD) and the CD set to "Slave". In "CMOS Standard Setup", you use the arrow key to select the first drive and then press "Pageup" or "PageDown" until "auto" is selected. Continue for rest. Exit and SAVE. If above doesn't work (and your HD light stays on), try switching the drive cable pluggins (the long end goes to the mainboard, the middle one goes to CD and the short end goes to HD(.....or is it the middle one goes to HD and the short end goes to CD). The plugs may even be turned around (yes, it makes a difference). When the HD light goes off, you got it. Now FDISK and install (Windows will format and transfer system files).
