i just built a system with an a7s333 asus mother board amd xp fujitsu 40gb hardrive 512 ddr pc2100. after installing windows 98 i put in the windows xp cd it is a burnt copy so ive been told i have to install 98 first and it trys to run the setup automatically and then an illegal error comes up saying setup.exe caused it and it wont let me run the install. ive tried many differnt ways of installing xp but nothing works it keeps comming up as an illegal error. could someone help me out ?

I believe that you can instal xp only once, and then you will have to purchase a liscence in order to instal it again from the same cd.

Get a better illegal (right or wrong) copy of WinXP. I do understand that the MS licensed ones work very well. I also understand that the OS itself is worth paying for.
