Reply: (edit)"does not seem to work" That's... pretty informative. Did you just copy the downloaded boodisk file to a floppy? That won't create a bootable diskette - you have to execute the file first, from your hard drive. You may be able to clear the CMOS with the 'clear CMOS' jumper, if present (go figure). Give me ambiguity or give me something else

Reply: (edit)Check the mothermoard manual for the CLEAR CMOS jumper, otherwise unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery on the MoBo for a minute. Most boot disks downloaded are WinImage Self-Extracting to floppy therefore you will need to do this to make a bootable floppy. Is not the W98 CD bootable??

Reply: (edit)I would just like to point out that most motherboards take more than a minute without the battery to clear. Some may take all day without the battery or power cable before it clears.

Reply: (edit)"Is not the W98 CD bootable??" No, only 98SE (and not all of those), as well, older machines may not even support that feature. Seems to be something of an echo... Give me ambiguity or give me something else
