Reply: (edit)You should upgrade to IE 5.01 (service pack 2). Incidentally, this service pack is very recent (it's only a couple of months old). I recently reformatted/re-installed Windows 98SE, and decided to try IE 5.01 because IE 5.5 has a tendency to crash an awful lot!! I've found that with IE 5.01, I've yet to experience 'browser-freeze'. IE 5.5 is just too 'buggy' for words!

Reply: (edit)Some people have and some haven't had problems with the install. Might want to check out some of the stuff at about.com I did the download to ( Upgrade ) to 5.5 and haven't recoverd since! Of course MicroSoft will not support you if you have a bad download and install, so you may want to think about it. My Mother did the upgrade and it works great. I liked it also until it started to cause crashes almost immediadetaly after I installed it. Now I have a problem that NO ONE can fix. If you do it ... Good Luck
