Install DirectX 9.0

Should I install direct X 9.0 or should I go with an earlier version in Windows 98? What are advantages? disadvantages? Thanks

basically i would say there is no difference between directx 9.0 and 8.0.
it just some extra coding, no buggy.
if you are a gamer, you would not notice any differnece.
besides, only the newest randon 9700 pro support directx 9, none of the geforce series support it.
98 the biggest advantage is very stable, it won't crash like xp does, xp is just a simple graphical enviorment to impress users.
windows 98 is the most successful product that microsoft ever made i would say.

First of all, I would stick with Directx 8.1 for the moment. As I have found, from personal experience, Directx 9.0 is kind of buggy. Others might have success stories, but for me it was all a headache. Also, ryans' correct, unless you have a brand spanking new video card, stick with 8.1 because the majority of cards out there can't use anything higher.
