I am setting up another computer I have pieced together. It's a Pentium 233 and I have a western digital harddrive that was given to me. I'm not even sure what's on the harddrive (operating system, etc.) I have everything hooked up (floppy, cd-rom, hardrive) and at the bootup screen I get a message "02B3: incorrect drive B type, run setup". I haven't a clue as to what that means and when I hit escape to continue it said "operating system not found". (Obviously I'm not even sure there's an OS on it). What the heck is the incorrect drive B type message all about? I can supply more info but at this point I don't know what anyone may need to even help. Might be something simple. Thanks for anything you can tell me!

It sounds like you have no os on the drive. Even if there is one your better off to fdisk format and install one as the hardware configuration will probably be different. This will cause all kinds of different problems. Because of having double everthing in the profiles. If you need instructions on how to do this just click on my name. I can give you a disk and instructions. It's easier than you think, probably.

G'day Lorraine, the 'setup' it refers to is your BIOS/CMOS setup. It may be that you have the boot sequence set at B as the first, or only choice [b is a floppy] or you may have B configured but not physically installed. It seems it's looking for your O/S on drive B.
You will have to enter the BIOS and check the 'Standard CMOS Setup' to see if B is installed or not and correct it. The Boot Sequence is in 'Advanced CMOS Setup' and check that out too but B might not be listed so that might not be it.
Or you may have the floppy cable connected with the wrong part of the cable [A is the end, B is the middle of the cable]
Hope this was helpful
