it seems that i have a major problem with my pc . most of the time it keeps crashing , it also seems to have some registry problems and some apps do not start at a particular time . each time i have to load win 98 again and again . i do no whther it is wrong with the pc hardware or software .some times the comp does not boot , if it does then it gives the message of shutdown after a series of errors without even starting windows.
this has really bogged me down plz help urgently

Moin,
you can try several options:
1. boot with F8 and let Windows create a bootlog.txt, you can see, opening this file with wordpad, what is causing problems. Check your system, if there are problems with any device-driver, update your device-drivers.
2. If you can boot Win98, run regclean first, then boot into DOS only and run scanreg /fix and then scanreg /opt. See, if anything is better then.
3. After all you could uninstall every application, that causes trouble and reinstall.
4. Search in the Micro$oft-Knowledge-base.
Good luck, mfg, Carl.

You might also want to run scandisk 'thorough' on your hard drive.
