This was posted on Spyware Info Support forum:
Everyone should use the latest versions, but these are very important fixes for Win9x users. This cures the major problem with fixing DReplace.dll in Windows98 Gold, Windows98 SE, and Windows ME.

You need to download them manually. The internal updater usually only recognizes major version changes.

HijackThis 1.97.5 http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

CWShredder 1.30.2 http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Note: There was no bug in either program. A hijacker used an entirely new method which had to be analyzed by Merijn and the Experts, and a solution devised.

I understand that some people have had to reinstall Windows after using the old versions.

JayT,

I have read your post several times but do not understand what it is telling me.

"Everyone should use the latest versions, but these are very important fixes for Win9x users."

What are "these"?

Bryan,
"These" are:

CWshredder and Hijack This. Unless you use the latest versions (which can be downloaded from the above urls) you can cause serious damage to your computer if you are using Win9x or WinMe. There are reports of many people having to re-install Windows after using older versions.
