Reply: (edit)Since your new here, I won't give you to hard of a time about your post. When you post here please explain in as much detail as you can, exactly what your problem is, type any errors or error codes, exactly as they appear on your system, and just give all details in general. Helpers we are, John Edwards we are not. Wesley I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough Without ever having felt sorry for itself.-- D.H. Lawrence

Reply: (edit)Folks who post here typically do have computer problems. Can you fill us in on any of the details? exact error messages, hardware changes, software changes, ram, size of hard drive, Win95 version, things you've already tried - all of that can help Use

Reply: (edit)"Hi I'm having problems starting windows 95" Hi I'm having problems mind reading your symptoms. ;>) Realistically, as stated above, you have to provide more information other than a blunt start up problem statement. ???? What happens when you power on the system? Does it get through the POST? (Power On Self Test) Are there error messages appearing on the screen? When/where do they occur? What is the basic hardware? (CPU type/amount of RAM)

Reply: (edit)Good site. I've put the two old W31 files help.com & help.hlp into c:\windows\command This gives more info than the /? provided in W98 (95?) using syntax "help scandisk" or whatever. It misses out on later commands of-course and includes some oldies. Works fine if shut down to DOS. Derek.W

Reply: (edit)Yeah, I rarely use scandisk (DOS or Windows) at all anymore. For Win9x I use the Fix-It Utilities - for DOS, Norton Disk Doctor (Ndd - 1999) - it's faster and has more options. Norton always did DOS well - not as impressed with the current incarnations for Windows. Use

Reply: (edit)I'm still using the Windows Norton Utilities of about the same vintage, or the remnants of it that didn't happen to make things worse LOL. The System Check is great for finding things but can't be allowed to fix anything, I always go manual for that. As an example, if there is a missing link to a setup.exe file, dear old Norton will just choose the first one on the pile if you let him fix it.... Derek.W
