Award BIOS w/Trend chips away virus protect.
Trend says "Now detecting boot sector type virus". I threw out one HD, flashed the BIOS put in another HD. She boots & recognize's HD & CD.......However, after A: boots her up & finishes at the A:\prompt I type setup; CD starts up whirling like no tomorrow, I wait, wait alittle longer, then up pops CDR101 not reading the CD drive.
(Prior to the above the computer's programs were getting progressively worse to the point I was 'willing' to wipe the whole drive which in the end I did. So why can't I re-load Windows? Yep took battery out for awhile and replaced it new. Put different RAM in. I have brought computers back from hell but this one has got me. yep even did the trick of fdisk /mbr & fdisk & scandisk & format. WHAT ELSE IS THERE? PLEASE EMAIL ME

I think everyone should see all the questions and all the answers, and more questions beget more answers. (And better answers!) Or, as jimi_1 said ...asking for a personal e-mail response is ... not conducive to the very spirit of this or any forum...

I wholeheartedly agree RM. But as for his question (I'm not into personal emails unless they email me first so I'll answer here), go into the bios and look for the where it says virus warning enabled, and disable it. This is probably the root of your troubles.
P.S.: RM I like your new colors.

Can the CD be read on a different PC (maybe the CD is bad)?

You said you "flashed the BIOS" after the virus warning. Why did you need to do that? Try flashing back to your original BIOS.

-Try running 'Setup' from the CD drive instead of A:\.
-Try disabling Trend Chipaway antivirus in BIOS.
-Possibly, try a new power supply.

Good luck,
M
