When I surf on the net, I'm getting an error message saying that my iexplore.exe crashed, and I can just reopen it right away but it's quit anoying after a long research and you didn't bookmark...

I'm wondering if it's because I am using Go!zilla, for resuming download. I'm also using Webcelerator, but it was doing it before webcelerator.

At the beginning, I was using GetRight, but it was crashing as well, so that's why I thought maybe it's my download resuming software...

Thanks

I ahve experienced the problem as well. As i am sure there is software out there to prevent these issues the best remedy is to keep your system clean and dont run a zillion programs at once.

First know what your system can handle. The speed of the proccessor and the available RAM will allow for so many programs to run at once. If you are running IE and 6 other programs at once you may experience crashes.

SECOND Keep your system clean. Frequently run scandisk and defrag to make sure your system is at peak performance. Cleaning out all .TMP files and clearing out all te files from you temporary internet folder is also a good idea.

THIRD check your available disk space. Windows uses a swap file that reqularly gets above 45MB. If you only have 40MB then you are going to experince crashes.

LAST I experience crashes regularly with IE4. Talking with some other techies there are some bugs in IE4 that come from the way it handles java applets and other scripts. Try downloading the latest patches or get IE5. It seems to be a lot more stable.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I doubt that it's my system. I have a 350 PII with 128 sd-ram. But I do run a lot of program at the same time. Like a SCSI Writer software...

For the scandisk and defrag, I'm using Win98, and I have 15 gig in 2 drives (6.5 + 8.6) so it's really a pain running these apps especially defrag which will take as much as 10 hours!!!!! And I do have IE5, but it was crashing with IE4, and still crashing with IE5.

Thanks for the advice anyway!

In addition to Tony's answers, when you run defrag, do not use the ALIGN option, it is mainly for MS programs. When using scandisk, don't choose surface scan unless you have real problems, run it in quick mode.
Shut down everything except Systray and Explorer when you defrag. Got any Norton programs installed by chance?

try running maitance wizard and have your system perform the tasks at night or when you will not be using the system for a long time. also set a task called cleanup to run everytime you log in. Have it delete all tmp and other junk from your system. If you do all this tongiht and let the programs run, I bet that will clear up a lot of your problems. It also is a possiblity that there is something wrong with IE and none of my advise will do anygood. but even so it is always a good idea to run some sort of scandisk or defrag utility monthly if possible.

I am having an Iexplore problem as well. I have win98 and IE5.0, 128meg ram and 8.4 gig hard drive. When I am on the net, there is no problem, except I cannot get into some chatspace sites. The computer just sits there trying to download whatever and nothing comes down. This didn't used to happen. When I log off the net, I always get an error message that says Iexplore crashed and caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll. The message will not leave my screen when I try to close it out. eventually, my whole system locks up and I have to reboot. If I reboot right away, I can do so without having to power down and start from scratch. This is very annoying, since it happens every time, no matter what I do. I tried to uninstall IE5.0, but It isn't uninstallable on my computer. I wanted to reinstall it to see if that would solve the problem. I am a loss as to what to do. Does anyone have any good ideas. I run scandisk everytime this happens and I usually fix errors that must have been caused by the crash. I also run defrag every night automatically. I also have First Aid 2000 installed on my computer. I ran the FA2000 fix program for IE5.0, so that's not the problem. If I try to use First Aid to restore Iexplore, The computer locks up tight and I must hit the power switch to reboot. Any help woud be appreciated. Thanks

After two days of frustration, I got iexplore.exe back. I went to the install/uninstall button, and tried to uninstall IE5.5 and components. I got a popup that let me repair (but not uninstall). I clicked repair, and got a message that said it couldn't repair but I should reinstall and gave me a button to click. When it got to the window prompting me to either install the whole package or just sthose components that it thought I would need, I ignored MS's recommendation and reistalled the whole package--and voila!
It works! I hope this helps y'all.
