You, (meaning the computer) have Gatorus to the n'th degree.
Please safely recycle your computer overseas immediately, preferably in Communist China.

You can also try an IE5 fix.

Thanks WhitPhil, but I tried the repair tool but the fault persisted.
My OS is Windows98se, and my graphics card is Matrox Millenium G400 series.

Sometimes Ad Spyware gets in IE's way.

Download and run AdAware from the link above and see if you have any installed.

Also, download and run Optout from //grc.com

I am also running IE5.5 and am receiving IPF on MSHTML.DLL at 0167:XXXXXXXXXX location. I did the Internet Explorer fix and all other errors disappeared except this one. I infrequently receive the error when exiting a web based mail program such as hotmail or yahoo. I'm told that some virus scan programs are incompatible with IE5.5 and could also be causing the error. I'm thinking that these locations are being overwritten by the mail programs and/or IE5.5. I may scrap IE5.5 and return to IE5.0 as so many of you recommended in the past. That should solve the IPF.

Thanks for the posts. Returning to IEx 5 did not cure the problem for me. I will try the anti-spyware program out. I did start using Gozilla about the time the problems started.
I hope Norton antivirus did not cause it, it wasnt cheap and buying another A/V program would be a pain.

Why not upgrade to IE5.5 SP1 and see if it fixes the problem.

BTW one program can't write into locations used by another program

Thanx again. SP1 would be the most painless way to go. I will try that first.
Microsoft also have a new? IEx fault reporting add-on, on Windows update. Maybe that will be helpful.

Gator and Go Zilla messes up your IE5.0 and 5.5, believe me I know, uninstall Gator and Go Zilla (even though go zilla is great) and get the opt out to get rid of the spy ware files on your computer and after all that you at least (I) had to uninstall IE5.5 and reinstall, those two programs also messed up my e-mail (outlook), so I went to Hot Mail, this took me hours with Microsoft and searching, its the only way.
