This could go on either forums... I upgraded to Office 2003 in a hobby computer. It installed a later version of IE6 AND Outlook. I was accustomed to Outlook Express but no longer have the option of using it. I tried to uninstall outlook from office and reinstall IE6 with Outlook Express but always get the message "can not install older version of IE6 over new One. Also, It is no longer an option to choose in IE/Tools/Options/Programs. Can you help

Bryco,
thanks, it is there but I can't make it the default unless I can access it through IE.
RandyL,
The information on the link you provided led me to look where Bryco did suggest and access it through the Msimn.exe file where I was able to make it (oe) my default. As usual, this forum has not disappointed me. You guys are great. Thanks.

The Office 2003 CD should have a folder with ie 6.00 SP1 in it, find it and copy the folder over to your hard drive where you then double click on ie6setup.exe(version 6.00.2800.1106). Choose custom, find OE in there and be sure to check all other boxes that were installed before.
If the selection for OE is not there you can still force it to install by using the following switch provided you alter it to your particular path to the ie6setup.exe location. Copy and paste the following into your Run Box after changing it to suit your path. Quotation scheme shown below IS important.
"C:\Windows Update Setup Files\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd /e:MailNews /I:Y"
See this for more info:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=257249
the /e: switch above extracts OE (mailnews.cab) files and the /i:y switch says yes to Install? View C:\WINDOWS\Active Setup Log.txt to gauge the success or failure of ie installation or reinstallations and/or current status/version.

Melee5,
Also thanks, you went to considerable work to help me and although the No. 2 1nd 3 post above solved the problem, I will also try the switch you mentioned above.JimW
