(This is in response to an older forum - http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/31505.html -
where some others had the same problem, but computing.net didn't think anyone would reply with new info. since the last post hada been in June.)

... ...
I keep getting the same problem, so I format my computer, but it takes forever to reinstall everything. Then I thought I was fine, the internet worked fine for a day and when I tried clicking into a web page, it wouldn't load, so I restarted my computer (via Alt+Ctl+Del). When Windows 98SE started, it gave me this message:

-----------
Internet Compatibility Mode:
This is being run in compatibility mode and not all features are enabled.
_
|_| In the future, do not show me this dialog box ______
| OK |
------
-----------

Anyway, you get the picture. Now whenever I run IE5 (it was IE6 before I formatted my pc,) it won't let me load web pages I normally could, Yahoo mail web pages "expire" my login prematurely, and I can't download anything even when I click "Save target as...".

You've got to understand how devastating this could be for a person such as myself (who frequently downloads updates to games, wav.'s, etc.).

Please post a message, someone, anyone, if you have the slightest idea how to make it back to normal. (Oh, and I already tried installing IE6, but I can't now since I can't download anything. Isn't that just peachy? )
