IE4 Illegal Operation CRAP!

Hi all,

I have a computer that regardless of OS (Win95/98) always gives me an illegal operation error when in IE4. Here are the exact words...

"This programs has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

EXPLORER caused a stack fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0137:bff9055a."

There's a little more after that, too, but anyway, it started with Win98. I formatted the hard drive and installed Win95 and thought that would take care of the problem but it began happening again almost immediately. The funny thing is that I don't remember it happening until after I had installed Win98 (when I had Win95, then wiped and installed 98).

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

It's IE4. You can make sure you're using IE
4.72.3110.0 SP1 (service pack 1) or get IE5. You'll still get the error, but not so often. MS says it's not them, the site isn't written right and crashes IE.

Win 98 tends to have 'these funny little things', usually when you upgrade from 95

I get the exact same error message and I don't even use Internet Explorer. I use Netscape only. If somebody finds a fix I would sure appreciated it.

I'm using IE5 with Win98 and a completely new Win98 build - not an upgrade. I don't ever remember having this before, with Win95. I also have tried reducing my hardware acceleration (to zero). I want to go back to Unix!
