Subject: IE problem after defeating OPENME Virus
Comment:

I am using IE 5.5 on Win98 SE, and I just finally deleted the dreaded Openme Virus from my system. (THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT POSTED SOLUTIONS TO THIS, ESPECIALLY DAN MARRINGTON AND JERRY GRAMLING!)

The only residual problem is that when I launch IE 5.5 after booting up the system, I receive an error message stating that the program has permormed an illegal operation. I also get the following when selecting the "Detail" button:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module FLT.DLL at 017f:021642de.

After closing this window, I receive a final window telling me that "Microsoft IE - An error has occured in IE and will now close. If you continue to experience problems, please restart your computer.

After closing this window, I can launch IE and surf the Internet without further incident. Does anyone know how to solve the initial error message and how to solve it? Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Go into Controp Panel, Add and Remove programs, Highlite " Microsoft internet explorer ", then select Remove. You will be asked if you want to remove it or Repair it, select repair, and Internet Explorer will run a check on itself and repair or replace anu files that are corupt. Have a nic day.

Thanks Oldhobo, but I am still having the same problem. Should I just remove then reinstall the program?
