Hello Guys,

I have a small problem. I have a machine that recently has been freezing everytime I visit a website with a FLASH intro or Button. The machine runs great when I am on the internet and does not have any problems unless I visit a site with FLASH. I just downloaded the new version of IE 6 and updated all I could my windows version. Is there a way to uninstall the flash player? Like I said before when I visit a site with flash the machine locks up completely that means that I cannot redownload the flash player from the macromedia's website.I have a Win 98 Celeron 500 with 256 MB RAM.
Any help or suggestions are really appreciated.

Thank you,

SAM DLC

It sounds like you need to remove the old version of the flash and then reinstall the flash again.
Visit the following address and follow the instructions to remove the flash:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/control_remove.htm

Then if you like to reinstall the latest version of the flash it should give fewer lock up problems.

Well, I'll take a stab here. There may be a problem with the flash player. with internet explorer open, click tools, internet options, Click settings, then view objects. It should show the flash player in there. make sure it doesn't have an error of some sort next to it. The status should simply show installed. If you right click the flash player, you can update or remove it. you might try to update it first (be online when you click update). If update doesn't work, you can always remove it until you figure out what might be going on...
good luck!

It sound like you need to replace Flash. Since you are not prompted to download it try this: Right click on IE desktop icon to open Internet properties. In the General tab click on Setting for temporary Internet files. Next click on view oblects. Look for Shockwave Flash Object. Delete it. When you go back to the website it should now prompt you to download a ne Flash player.

Thank you guys for all your responses. I went ahead and uninstalled the flash player. I went to macromedia's site and was able to browse. Before I would get locked. Then I went ahead and redownloaded the version of flash and same problem came back. One thing I did see was that when I went to the settings on the internet options and clicked on view objects, I did not see any flash player icon. I checked on another machine and I saw a Shockwave Flash Object icon
Do you thing this would have do to something with it?

Thank you
