I have a Pentium 233 with 64 Meg RAM running Win 98. I had to format the HD & reinstalled Win98.
Now when I try to open Outlook Express or Internet Explorer I get "out of memory, close one or more programs". Netscape works fine as do all other apps.
When I check the system resourses I have 94% free & I have over 5 Gig free on HD.
I uninstalled OL Express & reinstalled but still get same error.
Anyone ever encounter this problem before?
Appreciate any help, Microsoft wasn't much help, spent hour trying to find solution on their web site.

Don't bother with OExpress - use Pegasus mail its far far better. Also the way it manages its address book gives it a degree of immunity to virusses that propogate by mailing all your friends.
Alan.

Check your virtual memory settings. I encountered a similar "out of memory error" while trying to launch a particularly graphic intensive application on my work computer.
I believe the default setting allows Win9x to manage the virtual memory. Given the history of strange behavior I've encountered with Microsoft operating systems, it wouldn't surprise me if you found your machine set on... "let me specify my own virtual memory settings".
IE and OE are both memory pigs. Your virtual memory setting could be the problem. I checked my home machine before replying to your request and found my setting being managed by Windows @ almost 1 Gig.
If you're not sure how to change your virtual memory setting, here's a quick explanation. It's really quite easy. Right key on desktop "my computer" icon... select properties. Then bring forward the "performance" tab at the top of the system properties box. Then click on the "virtual memory..." button to view and adjust properties.
Hope this helps.
