Subject: IE 6sp1 problemsOS: Windows 98CPU/Ram: 312 |
Comment: I am running windows 98 and have IE 6 sp1 on my computer and it will not load up. Just partially, actually the bar at the top loads and nothing else. Any suggestions, when I did a repair I told it to take it back to previous version and it did not do anything. I have an ACER 312 meg of ram and 350 mgh processor.

Reply: (edit)What happens if you just tell it to Repair (without going back to previous)? If it gave a file version error these can usually be fixed. DerekW

Reply: (edit)Dear Kristi First make sure what is the size of your IE6 SP 1 if its size is nearly one MB then you need an internet connection because one mb sp is infact a program that connects you to its server to download a complete service pack. If it is a complete Browser with its service Pack then its size must be 70 - 80 MB in this condition if nothing is installing then it might be possible that your win98 installer is corrupted or your system is Disk is full of viruses. - Why dont you attempt a clean scan especially using (Mcafee 8.0 or 9.0 ) before installing sp. "it is very important for u and may solve many other problems and will increase your systems performance" Dont have this software ?.. do a scan via online there is great website for free online scanning housecall.antivirus.com ........

Reply: (edit)Download ie6setup.exe from microsoft to c:\Downloads, then in run type this exactly including quotes: "C:\Downloads\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" this will bring down ie6 so that you can burn it off onto a cd, then reinstall it.
