About 2 weeks ago, my IE 6.0 (on Win 98) began freezing. I get to my home page, but after that, disaster. I have run Spybot, McAffee, plus defragged my hard drive and RAM, ran ScanDisk, and even loaded some apps from McAffee called HARE and something else designed to catch and prevent freezes. Nothing works. Getting worse. Losing my mind. I believe there must be something in my system that McAffee cannot find, or that changed some setting in my IE 6 (on Win 98). The only thing I can thik of that happened was that my son went to some game sight called miniclip.com and it reset my home page and delivered lots of pop-up ads for porn etcetera. I reset the home page and put miniclip on permanently blocked status, deleted cookies and temp internet files as well.

i had lots of problems with ie6 for win 98, let me ask u a question.. when u installed it was there any problems?

I have seen many posts that amount to problems with the Win9x/IE6 combo. I reunbWib98SE and had ongoing "Illegal Operations" with IE6. I eventually went back to IE5.5 SP2 and haven't had any problems since doing so. The last few months I've been using MyIE2 as my default browser and will never go back to IE (any version) again. If you are interested. MyIE2 is free here:

I recommend the "Lite" version.

i agree with not using IE use another browser... cause if anything goes wrong wit IE well your system will most likely be unstable
