Help! I updated my win95/ie 5.5 sp2 to win98/ie 6.0 sp1 because IE was completely messed up, I couldn't open a link on another window, because it opened a new window, but then that new window would crash. Now I'm having the same problem with the current IE 6. I tried reinstalling ie by running ie5setup.exe and ie6setup.exe and it only made things worse. Does anyone know what to do?

Hi beosuser, hi everybody,

Try MCrepair ( http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/patch/1.0/win98/en-us/mcrepair.exe )

Try tying or copy & paste the following in to Run from Start > Run

rundll32 setupwbv.dll, IE6Maintainance

I am not saying this will cure the problem but from what you say it certainly can't make it any worse.

Hi beosuser, hi everybody,

In France, we often use PowerIE6 which is a wonderful free tool for your purpose!
http://www.technicland.com/powerie6.php3
Technicland is a Web site designed by Laurent Bécalséri who is a MS-MVP for Internet Explorer (ie very knowledgeable guy).
Sorry: I don't know an American equivalent to PowerIE6!
You perhaps could write to Laurent to ask him to translate his software into American!

HTH

Have a good day,

People, I'm going to try removing completely IE from the system, since I don't want to reinstall windows 98 entirely. Do you know any good programs for safely removing IE from the desktop? Besides 98 lite.

Hey, peoples, well, the system's back up working, had to reinstall win98 completely though, but it seems faster than it used to be. Anyway, now there's a problem with the start menu button. Instead of the Start text in english, it is said in Spanish, like in the previous version installed. Could that be a problem, perhaps of both windows versions interlapping and causing crashes?
