I've been running IE 5.5 for a few months with no problems, until lately. It's started acting weird, which has usually preceded a crash. I got a message from Big Fix that there was a new all inclusive security patch available. Downloaded, ran and now things are really getting strange. Looks like time to deinstall and reinstall, again. Just after I have all the patches in! Well, I tried IE 6 on another mobo and it didn't do so well. But I'm using a Dell mobo now which has been rock solid, until now. Also, on Friday I will be bringing up my new AMD system. I have IE 6 on a CD-ROM. What is the current opinion on IE 6? Sorry this is so long; I do get carried away sometimes. Just wondered what results people are getting with this version. There are probably a few million users out there by now. Thanks for your thoughts. :)

There are varying reports on IE6 and indeed IE all versions. It would seem to me that it is a matter of suck it and see to see what suits your particular system. Variations in Software and Hardware can alter the effectiveness so there is little point in comparing your system with others. .......Dave

I've read too many posts here from people having problems with IE6. I had problems with IE5.5 also, so I went back to 5.01SP2. I rarely use Internet Explorer as Opera (7.11)and pre-AOL Netscape have worked so well. Interested in other opinions.

Yeah, you are probably right. I wasn't trying to compare systems so much as experience & use. Guess I'll upgrade and see what happens. The old IE 4 was pretty darn reliabel, tho. Thanks.

I have used all versions since IE4 and I like IE6sp1 the best of all of them. I find it is faster too by about 15%.

I have been using it since October and have not found one single problem with it.

Prior to my trying it people did complain but I have not heard these complaints since SP1 came out.
All new problems seem to be related to the MS security patches and if one does not relate to me or my usage them I do not install it.

I am running Win98FE, McAfee V6 and Tiny Personal Firewall with it.

Bryan

I agree with Bryan, most of the issues I heard of with IE6 was prior to SP1. I have had no problems with it myself.

Good Day!
