Hi All
I have a 98 machine on our small office network that wont do the windows update properly. I specifically am trying to upgrade to IE6 (various websites we visit require it), but the upgrade sticks part way through.
I can download the setup files, but when it continues to the full download, it gets about 10% through then freezes & wont complete the setup. This also happens from a CD install. I have tried the repair function but it tells me I need to reload IE. It also thinks that IE 6 is already loaded. When the comp is booted up, the install window for IE 6 pops up as if it is trying to reinstall, but the same problems occur.
Is there a way to remove IE 6 completely & start again with the install CD? would an "over the top" run of 98SE fix the problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Drew

IERADICATOR
http://www.98lite.net/ieradicator.htmlIt's possible that an 'over the top' install of windows could help. Windows and IE are tightly intertwined.

also from the unistall control panel, when reinstalling, and says files already installed, do you want to replace? , say yes..., also check to make sure firewalls and virus scanner are disabled at this time , may be blocking setups. :)

Hi All
more to this problem. Was able to remove IE using IERADICATOR. Whilst trying to reinstall get the following error message:
IE5WZD caused an invalid page fault in
module SETUPAPI.DLL at 0177:7a0e6777.
