i have compaq computer and when i connect hard drive on ide1 on motherboard the hard drive not work but when i connect it on ide2 it work so i decide that ide1 not work after this i bring pc card controler UDMA/100
AND I INSERT IT IN THE COMPUTER but after this the computer freeze and refuse to contenue i change the slot but same freeze and i follow all the instruction in user guide for this card still same problem
how i can solve this problem

Set the jumper's, read your manual that came w/it.Set Bios setting's to auto detect.
