I am trying to install drivers for IDE controller CMD 640 PCI and the controller works fine, but the child devices for primary and secondary give me a exclamation point. I tried deleting and redetecting and it does redetect the controller and child devices but still gives me a exclamation point. It used to work fine the on the pc but not it does not. How can I fix this without installing windows?

If it's the same problem I had, try doing a search in AltaVista for "dos compatibility mode" and you might find some help there.

You can try one of three things... Device Manager, Click on the CMD Dual PCI\IDE controller, click Properties, Click Settings, and instead of default, scroll down and click Enable Primary and Secondary.. Reboot Go to RUN, type REGEDIT, click Edit, click Find, type NOIDE, click Find Now...highlight the NOIDE when it shows up in the right hand side and click Edit, Click delete, Close Registry, and reboot. Go to the CMD home page and download the latest drivers for the PCI\IDE controller and install those instead of the ones that Windows installed.
