The problem I'm having is when you double click a shortcut on the desktop or in the start menu it doesn't open the program. No error messages. But you can go to explorer, by right clicking on the start button and find the exe file and it opens fine, also if you right click on the shortcut and select Open it opens fine. If you try to create a new shortcut it doesn't work either. The other problem is that when you right click on My Computer the option for explorer and open + others isn't there. All that appears is Map Network Drive, Discconnect Network Drive, Properties and Rename. I've ran Norton anti-Virus with the newest definitions. HELP!!!

Did you recently partition your hard drive or add a new hard drive. I added a maxtor 6.8 drive - partitioned my old drive after making a copy of it to the new one. I now have the same issue with my desktop icons. I reloaded some programs and that took care of most of the issues.
