Hi
A friend gave me an ICL laptop without a power supply. the power supply is 19v = 22. I got a shredder power supply which works but would like to get the correct power supply as the dc fit is not 100%. How old is this Laptop and where could i get a power supply.

Secondly, the laptop boots and says it has a 3.5 floppy but i cannot see a floppy drive on the laptop, only a CD Rom.

Thirdly, it loads up saying Phoenix and says the CMOS or CHECKSUM is corrupt. How do i fix this. Please note i don't have a cd writer and if you suggest a download to floppy, how would i load it to the laptop or am i missing something? I don't know anything about laptops only desktops.
Your simple advice to a laptop novice would be much appreciated.
Regards

THe internal battery may be dead. The floppy drive probably interchanged with the CD drive in the same bay. That is common. When booting, enter the BIOS and reset the values, especially time and date. To enter the BIOS watch the screens at startup for prompts on what keystrokes are used.

If it is a P166 or P133, it is at least 10-12 years old. You may have difficulty getting anything for it.

I've never seen an ICL laptop: only Fujitsu ones. ICL was taken over by Fujitsu in 1996 so it might be worth looking at Fujitsu Lifebooks. They may be the same thing with a different badge.
