I'm looking for the IBM recovery CD for my thinkpad. It is a A22m 2628-HCU running windows 98SE. The laptop is working perfectly, but I would like to have the recovery CD to restore it back to factory settings. According to IBM's support page the part number is (FRU) 23P8892. So far I haven't been able to locate one. If it's out there I could use some help finding one. Thanks

Hi,
This goes agains my grain because im not actually helping you to find what you want, whitch is a IBM recovery CD part number (FRU) 23P8892.Instead Im going to sugest 2 alternatives.
1.go to a local computer fair or get on Ebay and you should be able to pick up a 98 Se full install cd for about AU$50 or less,(Thats about US$35).
2.Spend about a extra $100 ontop of that and upgrade to XP.(Your specs are well abouve minimum reqirements).

Only thing I can think of, have you tried eBay?
Tried IBM?

and:

and, finally, buried deep in these pages, I find:

Might consider joining the "Thinkpad Digest" an email reflector.

So far I've tried everything except the 800 IBM help line. I already have the win98se full install, just wanted to try to put the laptop to original factory config (just a quirk, I guess). Thanks for the replys. PS ozyoiy, sorry about the mutiple posts. 1st time user on posting and didn't know how the site tied together.

If you have a full install CD for win 98SE at the end of the day ide use it over the recovery cd,only because it has less BS attacted to it than the install you will get from a recovery CD, But thats just me.
Also, ide still look at a upgrade if your going that way,its worth the money, but a tad more ram would help if you go to XPee and just buy a upgrade CD of XPee not a full install, its bout 100 bucks less..

Thanks Oz, think I'll go that route. For anyone whose is interested, I did find a site www.pcrecoverycd.com that may help some who need a recovery cd. They had mine but only the 2k/NT OS. Thanks again.

If your recovery partition is working you may simply unhide the partition. Partition managers like Partition Magic or Paragon harddisk manager 5.5 will do the job.
You find a w98 DOS system and the packed win98se there.
If you start recovering by pressing F11 and stop the process by power off before the first restart you will find all the software ready for installation on drive C:\.
