I just received an IBM Thinkpad 760XL and the cd-rom is supposed to "swap" with the floppy drive, but I can't figure out how to get the floppy drive out. I need to put the cd-rom drive in to install WIN98. Please help!

Sounds like you just got a "new" used one with no os? Have you been to ibm.com? They have just about every file, driver, disc download, etc, you would ever need, but you have to look, and look, and look some more. search for the "driver matrix" They have pdf files downloadable for most of the manuals, too

As I recall, you need to tug on it a bit. First, you need to open the keyboard by pushing back on the sliding catches on either side of the case (very front of case). then lift the keyboard up.

There should be a fabric tab on the floppy that will allow you to pull it out. Watch the front of the drive since the faceplate for it is inset into the case.
