Comment:

I have an IBM Thinkpad that had the harddriver formatted. I installed WIN98(legit copy from my desktop), Thinkpad originaly had WIN95. I can't get it to recognize the internal moden and I have some conflicts. Under sys properties, Hard drive: Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo) gives me a code 10.
Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo) gives me a code 10. And under Other Devices it says Unknown Device Code 28.
I have Removed them a couple of times but still comes up with the same codes when I restart.
I know it has to do with missing drivers, but I don't know what drivers it wants. I don't know what modem it has, I could take the case off and find out if needed. Also, it does not seem to reconize the USB port either.
Any thoughts????

all updates, drivers, support here. under support/drivers type thinkpad 600, and then modem driver and select window 98. look for any autodetection of what you need...

So I installed the suggested driver, system re-boots and I get: MWME0001: Modem Internal Error
Primary code 5 (0x0005)
Secondary code: 105 (0x0069)

File MWMWIN.C
Line: 4426

I click on OK and get a box that says, the modem has detected an internal error and connot continue.....Restart modem or Shutdown modem....details are the otpions.
Under details it says MWME0001: modem internal modem error
Primary code:5 (0x0005)
secondary code: 4294967191 (0xffffff97)
File: MWMSPCFC.C
Line: 6111

maybe wait on another post,

You just formatted and installed? I'd probably fdisk again and format c:.....at a dos prompt. Then insert the windows disk and install again.

Did you do a typical windows install and not a custom ...with most of the components installed?

wait and see what someone else thinks though if you don't want to take the time to do this. Do put the drivers you have on a disc.

The MWave modem device is set up to work only with win95. To get it to work with win98 or win98SE you need a patch for it that you can get from the IBM support website. I have an IBM Thinkpad 760ED and so I don't have that problem with it I am still running win95. When I tried to install win98 I also lost my mwave sound untill I installed the patch. But after putting the patch in I got other errors so I just went back to good old win95 on it.

I looked om IBMs website, I tried and update and thats what gave me the error I posted above. None of the modem drovers on IBM say anything about the MWave modem. So, which one is the one I need??
Also, what about the other errors I have listed above:
Under sys properties, Hard drive: Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo) gives me a code 10.
Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo) gives me a code 10. And under Other Devices it says Unknown Device Code 28.
Thanks!!
