My Windows system works perfectly well, running an old version of Office, for example, but although the monitor seems to be working, the actual part of it occupied by any Windows program never displays in full screen, Is this a driver problem, perhaps?

what happens when you hit f11 key??

look in browsers for a utility called i.e.maximizer.
free short download. it will max the screen for you after you set it up
