No sound from my Model 2176-C66 Aptiva, after I upgraded(?) from Win95 to Win98.
I understand that the sound card drivers are embedded on original recovery CD which will reinstall Windows95. Any suggestions?

My Aptiva 2176-C66 Finally *recognized* the built-in sound card as being a *Dolphin* and I installed 1,082 files and drivers for this Dolphin Mwave Adapter. Still no sound! I could re-install Windows 95 with the recovery CD, but then the computer would not recognize any USB components!
I assume the best thing to do is to start with a new sound card and supporting software that Windows 98 would recognize.

I also have an Aptiva....planning to buy a soundcard. Will the integrated soundcard "disturb" the new one? Is it possible to make it work?

Dear Elinor,
What model/speed is your Aptiva and why do you want to make a change? andelvis@yahoo.com
Check this Unofficial Aptiva Support site at //members.aol.com/Don5408/index.html
before you do anything. I also have Aptiva.
I have some problems with it, I'm working on it. Let's keep in touch.

Just a note of info. I was helping a friend with an Aptiva E26 computer. She replaced Win95 by wiping the c drive and installing a full Win98. She lost the modem driver. I found a driver at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?lang=en_US&doctype=Downloadable+files&subtype=Cat&page=brand&menu=subtype&brand=IBM+Aptiva&family=&subtype=Modems but it was not E26 specific. Someone else came up with E26 specific with complete documentation at: ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/aptiva/aa7zolus.exe. Everything works great and the lady is very happy.

IBM Aptiva 2168M40 75mhz
I upgraded from Win3.1 to Win95 operating system.
The MWave (modem/soundcard)wasn't recognized!
I downloaded the required drivers from http://www.pc.ibm.com/support and installed them.
Everything (fax send/receive and sound) seems to be working fine except when I attempt to connect to my ISP. The modem just gets stuck squeeling after my ISP's modem answers and attemts to establish a connection. I've tried connecting my Aptiva to a different ISP (using a friends account and password) and it contects fine to them.
What is the problem with my ISP?
