Hi
I want my modem to disconnect when I get a telephone call. I have gone through the settings with disable back and forth and it still doesn't kick out. I talked to sprint and they said my connection is just too powerful and they don't know what to do.

Could someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks ann marie

I have call waiting, it just keeps ringing when someone tries to call, even after I changed the settings

There is usually an option when you are setting up the software for your ISP that asks if you have call waiting. If you do, the modem dials a three digit sequence to disable the call waiting before it dials the ISP number. (I think it is something like *37, not sure though at the moment) I would check the ISP's software to see what all you are dialing when you connect.

Hi Ann marie,

Some modems are stubborn/strong and don't care what you want. One thing is clear you have to have Call Waiting subscribed for the following suggestion.

If the above already suggested options don't work then try this. Go to Control Panel => Modems => Properties => Connection => Advanced... => Extra Settings. Enter S10 = # (where # is time in seconds or in other words # of rings after which you want to disconnect from the Internet.; say 3, default is 14). In dialing properties, the call waiting should not be checked i.e. blank. If this won't work then we have to add some more AT commands with S10 in the extra settings.

There are other options but are little bit expensive. Good luck.

Belron,

They are *70, #70, for Touch Tone phone; depending upon your telephone company.

1170, for Pulse phone.

You should look at Internet Call Manager...this may serve you better than disconnecting each time you get a call. I've had it for about a year and it works great. Go to www.internetcallmanager.com

Please advise if there is a free service for call interrupt or call waiting which indicates if I have an incoming call while online.
