Help! I'm trying to fdisk, reformat and install dos 6.22 win 3.1, 95, 98, and it won't detect my cdrom - I use a fixit disk and it identifies the cdrom device - I then install 95 and it comes up with this:
"Setup found a compressed volume or a disk-cache utility on your computer. Quit setup and check your compressed volume with your disk compression software or remove the disk-cache utility. Then run setup again."
(How do I check the compressed volume with what disk compression software or hot do I remove the disk cache utility?)

My options on the scrn at this time are:
If you have already done so, press ESC
For more information, see SETUP.TXT on Setup Disk 1 or the windows CD.
To quit setup, press ENTER. To continue with Setup, press ESC.

I try pushing ESC and this happens: it initializes and checks existing disk. Then it re-boots and when it gets to OS load in progress... it just clicks really fast - The power light and the HDD light are on. If I have the fixit disk in the a: it will load by the ROM DOS only. Setup does not continue. I did get 3.1 installed, and when I go to C:\Windows and type win this comes up:
Exception #0D
it lists a bunch of letters and = #'s -
4 rows across and 4 rows down. Then it says: The system has encountered a serious problem and cannot continue. Press "t" to terminate the current application, "r" to reboot the computer.
I push t and it goes back to windows directory.
I push r and w/o the fix it disk, it just CLICKS AND CLICKS with the OS load in progress on the screen. ANYONE know what's up?????

Under windows 95,go to program files folder, then to plus folder. Now you should see two icons, one system and one Cmpagent.
This is where your problem could lie, I know that your files should be uncommpressed, how you are to do this I am not sure, sorry but I hope this is some help.

One of the best tools I use for CD-ROM problem installs is a Windows 98 boot up disk with CD-ROM support.... you can use it even if you're installing 95, too.... go to www.bootdisk.com and you can make a 98 boot disk from there. Hope this helps.

Is fix-it same as fix-it that is offered by
MIJEMX ? If so, need to tun off its anti-virus when installing Win 95.
