I've been running into a whole lot of problems using various games, apps, etc. because my display option lists only 256 colors MAX. I have an SVGA monitor, and a Trident "TD9680P" Video Card... it only seems logical that I should have access to more colors.... am I wrong? I was just in BIOS and enabled "PCI/VGA Palette Snoop", but that didn't do anything.... if anyone could e-mail with an answer, i would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

Please open system properties window, and have a look with the display adapter, if your system is running in correct configuration, "PCI display adapter" should not be appeared.

then you need to install a correct driver for you video card.

After you installed the correct video driver, windows95 may found you have installed another video card. At this time you are sure that your video card and its driver have already installed. So just select "Do not install driver for this device, windows will not prompt for you again", then it should works fine.

Good luck

Get and install Microsoft's DirectX 6.1 from microsoft (www.microsoft.com). Get and install the latest video drivers for your card at trident (www.trid.com) or the board manufacturer.

Diasble the Pallette Snoop from your BIOS.

Once all the drivers are installed, go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Display and change your resolution and color level. I recommend 16bit color (65k) at 1024x768 using large fonts.

Note, if your video card is a 2D only card, you will need at least 2MB video memory to run at 16bit (65k) color. If your card is a 2D/3D card, you will need a minimum of 4MB video memory. If you have less than this, you will only be able to run at 8bit (256) color mode.
