I received an attachment created in wordpad.exe but I don't have that installed on my computer. Can someone please tell me if I need to install wordpad or can I open the attachment some other way?
Thanks,
Tina

Open control panel, then add/remove programs. Click Windows setup, then accessories. Click details and scroll down to wordpad. Add check mark, then click OK. You may need your Windows CD. Any other Windows components may be added or removed the same way.

You can also open .txt files with any text editor, such as MS Word.

If you haven't got the CD (or for some reason don't want to install WordPad) then it should open in NotePad. The formatting might be a bit messy but you should be able to read the text with a little care.

It might even open in Word, but NotePad is a safer bet. Whatever, just set what you want to read it with to "all files". Alternatively you can simply change the extension to .txt .doc or whatever.

Err...an afterthought. Hope you are quite certain it is safe and is harmless text. I don't want you to get a virus. We can help further if you have any doubts.

If you don't have your original Windows CD or don't have Microsoft Office, there are dozens of freeware word processors that can open a .txt file. Browse for NoNags or other honest freeware sites and you'll find plenty of 'em.

Best Wishes,
