Hi

I'm trying to assist our webmaster in finding out why we get so many posts on this W95/98 forum for XP and Vista. I'm wondering if there is anything confusing about the selection process.

Can you help me by indicating what made you feel this was the best/right place for your Vista query?

Many thanks

I figure a google search brought them here because the 9X forum has the most postings.

I open the 9X forum, expecting nil
but a new posting is there to test my will
Alas! They ignore the recipe
They're talking Vista or XP
It leaves me feeling I'm over the hill

I certainly understand what you mean,
Posts in the right forum are only a dream,
But suddenly we've got an awful lot,
Is W9x really so hot?

Aw sorry, that makes me such a fool,
For 'hot' we are now supposed to say 'cool'.

I have been trying to get folks to tell me why they posted where they have and I have yet to get a meaningful response. It is frustrating. I did PM Justin about this issue and found out that contrary to past practice you can post in any OS forum regardless of your stated OS. Used to be if your OS of record was, say Vista, you couldn't post in Win95/98 forum.

Seems to me that Justin should go back to the original method. That won't stop all the erroneous posts but will stop some.

Yep, I'll keep trying too. I've been emailing Justin about it because I feel quite certain the level of misposting (on W95/98 at least) has increased. He felt it was all due to folks Googling in but I rather think your suggestion is more to the point - there's something that is fouling them up.

Mostly the posters never come back (surprise, surprise) but one that did, didn't really give a tangible explanation about the mistpost.

Many new posters have heard of Win95 and Win98. So maybe they are thinking Win95/98, a more advanced version after Win 7?
