this is for Lost,
the "7 missing VXD's" occur because of a bug in the installation. this is a well known (i thought) fact. they are listed below. you might want to check YOUR machine and see if you have them...

configmg.vxd
ntkern.vxd
vcomm.vxd
vdd.vxd
vdmad.vxd
vflat.vxd
vmouse.vxd

Howdy, I have never come across this problem with 98. Is this caused by a upgrade CD or a full version, just wondering after the tons of installs of 98 I have done.

Laters,

Kevin The Tech Dude.

At the bottom of this web page it says that Win 98 upgrade users are more likely to have this problem.
Take a look and let us know what you think about it.

I tried to an upgrade to W98 and after the installation program restarted my computer (IBM Aptiva, PII 300)I got the following message: "A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C0038A06 in VXD VPICD (01) + 00001EA2. When I uninstalled W98 and "restored" W95, W95 comes to a halt with the following message: "Windows protection error. Restart your computer." When I restart in "normal" mode it's the same story over and over. Now I can't get to anything—no W95 and no W98. This is the pits!

Robin,
Yours appears to be a different type of problem. The smart guys might not check back down here. Maybe you should repost your problem so it will be at the top of the page where they are more likely to see it.
I searched around but couldn't locate your exact error message. Good luck.

I have the Full Version of Win98se. I've search all cab files on my disc and the one and only file I need(VDMAD.VXD) Is nowhere to be found. If anyone has any idea of were this file is located, or if someone has the file itself for Win98se please e-mail it to me
