HP is charging $19.95 for a scanner 5P windows98 driver. Windows 95 drivers will not work. I think that HP should supply the driver update like most other companies do when there is a change like this.

Reply: (edit)I have a ScanJet 5p as well. The problem that you may be having is with the SCSI card that goes along with the scanner. I have Windows NT and 98 and cant get it to work with either OS. Personally I am really pissed at HP for charging people to upgrade. That is not good business. If I can find a URL that has some drivers for the scanner or the SCSI card I will let everyone know. Until then, write HP nasty letters =)

Reply: (edit)i talked with h.p. and they informed me i would have to order the new drivers for my 5p scanner to work with windows 98 at a cost of $19.95 . They should give the new drivers as they are needed. I guess I will have to replace the scanner with a brand that will upgrade there hardware as needed, without sticking it to us again. Thanks for nothing H.P. !!!!!
