When you are using windows95 and r13 or r14 you should be able to use the add printers icon to add an "HP Draftpro" in Windows to drive the plotter. This will work. We have used this procedure here and seen it function correctly.

Any advice regarding drivers for the HP DraftPro Plus model C3171A? Windows doesn't list any drivers for this or any other HP-GL/2 devices, only HP-GL devices like the one discussed above. WINline sells a driver for $200 with a True-Type font upgrade for another $100. I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative.

I am in a similar position re the driver for the HP draftpro. Although I now use a designjet 650C I would like to sell the old faithful plotter.

I have not yet got ACAD R14 loaded so if any of you have R14 and a draftpro would you test the following option for me?

The draftpro was superceded by the draftpro DXL. The only difference if I recall was that the DXL could take a1-A4 size sheets of paper. The R14 manual says it supports the DXL model! Maybe we get lucky?

I don't think the DXL was a HPGL/2 plotter because HP lump them together when referring to them on their website.

Therefore I think the R14 DXL driver should drive the straight earlier draftpro as long as one sticks to a1 and a2 paper sizes.

I hope to try this myself when I get a breather next week.

I got a HP7570A plotter too. I added printer to "Printer" in Window95. It works fine when I print a test page. However, it goes mad when i plot a drawing from Pro-engineer. I wondered whether it is the driver's problem or something else. Anyone help.

AUTOCAD2000 HAS A DRIVER FOR THE 7570A.
I ONLY PLOTTED ONE PLOT SO FAR TO TEST IT.
B-SIZE IT PLOTTED JUST FINE. I HAD TO DISABLE THE WIN98 PLOTMASTER DRIVER TO DO THIS. THE PLOT MASTER DRIVER IN WIN98 PLOTTED A TEST PAGE OK. I'M STILL LOOKING FOR A WIN98 HP7570A DRIVER THAT I WONT HAVE TO DISABLE WHEN RUNNING AUTOCAD2000 THOUGH.
INADDITION,THIS UNIT REQUIRES A SPECIAL CONFIGURATION CABLE TO USE (YOU COULD USE A REGULAR PRINTER CABLE IF YOU BUY A JUMPER BOX TO CONFIGURE THE SIGNALS PROPERLY)COM PORT2 SERIAL REFER TO MANUAL. THERE ARE PLACES ON THE NET THAT SELL A CABLE THAT WILL WORK.

Got 7570A working for AutoCad Lite:
HP site gives cable pinout & other setup for
other plotters that also work for 7570A.
Win 98 has DraftPro driver.
Set Control to HDW.
