I messed up an install of WindowsXP

I tried to install Windows XP and I messed up. Now, whenever I start my computer, it goes to the would you like to start windows XP installation or Windows. Any ideas?

Hi Alex,
There are two solutions . -> Reinstall Windows XP. -> And the other is before modifying boot.ini keep a backup of that file. It is located in C:\ (root directory)
1) Click on Start-> Run 2) Type notepad c:\boot.ini 3) It will open a file named boot.ini 4) Now maximize the notepad window. 5) Remove the line that looks like below. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect 6) Restart ur computer.

Did you try to upgrade or go a clean-install?
Depending on which you opted for depends on your current options etc..
Post back with details of what you opted for; also the boot.ini details as is.

reformat hdd by making it slave in another computer then reinstall Xp worked for me.
