Hi there. If I click on favourite menu of IE, it doesn't show IE icons anymore for each links. Now it's showing windows default icons instead of IE icons !!!!!
I'm using IE 6.0 in win 98se. How could I restore my IE icons? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the handy tool. I downloaded Tweak UI from microsoft web site. But still no luck. I also went to C:\WINDOWS\Favorites, all shortcuts are still showing in windows default icons instead of E logo. Any more idea?

Well this isn't very automated, but you can open Windows Explorer, go to your Favorites folder, Right click and choose Properties, click on Change Icon.
You can select a bunch at one time by clicking on the first one, hold down the Shift key, click on the last one and all in between will be selected.
Hope this helps Julie.

G'day Julie, are these user-defined icons [your choice] or icons that appear on the favorites menu when you save a link, if so they are called favicons and plonk themselves in the TIF and will get deleted if you empty the TIF. These can be extracted from the TIF and renamed, they mostly all have the same name, and you can then reassign them to your links.
Hope this is what you mean.

I think she just wants to get them all back to showing the 'e' icon instead of the Windows default flag icon.

Phylis Sophical,
In properties, I found E-logo is already selected. I also tried to change to any other icons but still the same result.
Ronnie Ratt,
This is not about favicons. I just want to back my E logo icons instead windows flag icons.
Do you think my computer is virus infected?

You can use a program called "FavOrg" to restore your icons.

OK Julie, if you are still there, I don't believe it's a virus, I think the DefaultIcon path for >b>http addresses may have been unwittingly changed or the DefaultIcon key has vanished from the Registry. The file that gives you these icons is Url.dll
Check in there is you feel comfortable about the Registry at the below location [I'll be right behind you]
Hkey_Clases_Root
.+ http
..+ DefaultIcon "c:\windows\system\url.dll,0"That is what it should be for your favorites icon by default.
You could also try that old 'chestnut' remedy by deleting the ShellIconCache file in the Windows folder [hidden] and reboot, this will rebuild your icon cache and hopefully restore them if the Registry is OK.
